Imam Abu Abdullah Muhammad bin Idris Al-Shafi’i Al-Muttalabi Al-Qurashi was born in Gaza in the year 150 AH, and his mother moved him to Mecca when he was two years old. He memorized the Holy Qur’an when he was seven years old, and memorized the Muwatta’ when he was ten years old, then he began seeking knowledge in Mecca until he was given permission to issue a fatwa when he was A son under twenty years old.
Then Al-Shafi’i migrated to Medina to seek knowledge from Imam Malik bin Anas, then he traveled to Yemen and worked there, then he traveled to Baghdad in the year 184 AH, where he sought knowledge from Judge Muhammad bin Al-Hasan Al-Shaybani, and began studying the Hanafi school of thought, and thus he acquired the jurisprudence of the Hijaz ( Maliki school of thought) and Iraqi jurisprudence (Hanafi school of thought).
Al-Shafi’i returned to Mecca and began giving his lessons in the Grand Mosque of Mecca, then he traveled to Baghdad for the second time, presenting it in the year 195 AH, then he traveled to Egypt in the year 199 AH. In Egypt, he died there in the year 204 AH.
