Vayu Purana is a Sanskrit text and one of the eighteen major Puranas of Hinduism. Manuscripts of the Mahabharata and other Hindu texts contain references to the Vayu Purana, which led scholars to believe that it was one of the oldest in the mythology.

The Vayu Purana deals with its cosmological theory, the genealogy of the gods and kings of the solar and lunar dynasties, mythology, geography, manbantras, the movement of the solar system and the bodies of the sky.
