Surveyed about 110,000 surnames from about 22,000 books in all prefectural libraries. It is the largest dictionary ever in the Japanese surname dictionary.

Place of origin, origin, history, distribution, estimated population, level (rareness), etc. The surname of foreign origin is also investigated by the naturalization record of the Gazette. Also includes related surnames that have similar readings and notations.
