The Kerala Scrap Merchants Association (KSMA) created in 2017, is a registered welfare association specifically created for the upliftment of the members and those involved in scrap business in Kerala. KSMA has a strong presence in all the districts of Kerala whose aim is to consistently engage in social and cultural upliftment of its members and those affiliated to the scrap business.
Scrap collection is one of the necessary businesses for sustainability. But there are numerous negative factors that impact the scrap business, like unfair price, no unified pricing systems, lack of knowledge in handling scraps with its associated risks, improper disposal, ignorance about correct recycling methods etc . To solve these issues the Kerala Scrap Merchants Association (KSMA) has developed a plan by introducing a digital unified platform, Akrikada App, which connects all vendors ,customers and manpower associated with scrap collection across the state.
