Gamaka detects and draws the swaras (notes) and swarasthanas (tones) in Carnatic music as the singing/playing happens on a real-time basis.The screen on the left side, displays two octaves with twelve swarasthanas for male and female shruthis normally used. Female shruthis: 4, 4 1/2, 5, 5 1/2 and 6 kattais. Male shruthis: 1/2, 1, 1 1/2, 2, and 2 1/2 kattais. Optimum performance: Android 6.0 and above.
Gamaka is designed for music teachers, singers, students, and rasikas, and for all Indian musical genres and styles. The application is an aid in swarasthana and gamaka practice. The visual display is used as a sonic mirror of the voice or instrument. Changes in swarasthana at a micro level is reflected visually for musicians to use the information to associate with the auditory perception of the swarasthanas. Noise filters are used to remove extraneous sounds, and so ensures high-fidelity output. Gamaka is the sonic mirror of the music.
