श्री ज्ञानेश्वरी एक प्रचंड ‘ज्ञानकोश’ आहे, हा ज्ञानकोश पाहता येण्यास ‘प्रत्यक्ष’ गुरुसाहाय्याची अर्थात अपेक्षा आहे .
सामान्य लोकांना भगवद्गीता समजण्यासाठी ज्ञानेश्वरांनी भावार्थदिपीका या नावाने भगवद्गीतेवर, मराठी भाषेत निरूपण/भाषांतर केले. ते ज्ञानेश्वरी या नावाने प्रसिद्ध आहे.
