Although only 42 years old, the roots of Maysville’s daily newspaper, The Ledger-Independent, can be traced more than 150 years into the past. The Ledger-Independent was first published on Oct. 1, 1968, following the simultaneous buyout of the city’s two daily newspapers, The Public Ledger and The Daily Independent, by the Gadsden (Ala.)
