Ramadan is the ninth month in the Hijri calendar and comes after the month of Shaban. This month is considered distinct among Muslims from the rest of the months of the Hijri year. It is the month of fasting, during which Muslims abstain from drink, food and sexual intercourse, while staying away as much as possible from taboos from dawn until sunset.
The month of Ramadan also has a special place in the heritage and history of Muslims.
