Judo is a martial art invented in the nineteenth century in Japan. The creator, Jigoro Kano, based his own difficulties to create the sport. He believed that the traditional fighting that took place at the time required a lot of physical strength from the practitioners. Therefore, he changed the practice into Judo. Rules were created that made the sport more disciplined and educational. He was looking for a sport with logic that could also be used as a means to improve one's body. The goal, according to him, should not be to overthrow the opponent, but to have an education of one's own body.
