The Lucknow State Museum is the oldest Museum of UttarPradesh, established in 1863. The Museum has a rich collection of Archaeological antiquities, coins, paintings, sculptures, arms and armor and recently a very unique Egypt Gallery has been added to its growing list of artefacts.
Among the collection on display are historically valuable pieces that date back from before the Common Era (also known as B.C) and trace a rich panorama of Indian history from the time of Ashoka the Great to the Awadhi-Nawabi era. You can see on display artefacts uncovered from various sites in State of Uttar Pradesh, along with a history of Coins and including some very rare pieces.
A unique Video Experience
Visitors to the Museum can use the Digital Personal Guide App to receive an audio visual experience, on these rare and significant sculptures, coins and paintings.
Available in Hindi for local visitors to the Museum, this is educative experience allows users of the app to learn more about the gallery, and the collection they are viewing. English and other foreign languages will soon follow.
How the App works
This is an Android app and it works only within the premises of the Lucknow State Museum. Users don’t need a 2G or a 3G connection, and the App works over the WI-FI environment that has been especially created for the App in the Museum. It is compatible with almost all Android based smart phones.
Just as soon as users download the App. they can view, play and listen to the videos with no bandwidth usage and no Internet connection.
The App is FREE for all visitors to the Museum.

The new Egyptian Gallery has recreated a small pyramid that houses an original Egyptian Mummy in its sarcophagus/coffin, guarded by Ibis, the jackal priest. There is also a description of the Heiroglyphic Script and a gallery of Egyptian gods and artefacts on display.
