But Trichur dist. of Kerala has an important place in banking history, because, it has a number of financial institutions like Banks, Chit Funds and Kuries etc. In 1929 some merchant from Trichur started a Banking institution called South Indian Bank Ltd. But the spirit of Unity or Association feeling started only in 1950 and it fulfilled in 1952 in Madras, which is called SIBEA.
